The MR2 Owners Club Message Board - Rules of the Board -
revised 25 April 2004

In an effort to improve the signal to noise ratio on our forums we are putting new rules in place and making a few changes here and there. With thousands of registered members from all over the world we have reached a point where tremendous diversity, age, education, location and more are all factors to consider when participating in our forums. We want to promote a clean, healthy, respectful atmosphere where people are not afraid to ask questions, participate in this community and generally have a good time discussing the things we love most - cars.

With that in mind, here are the rules:

The Owner, Administrators, and Moderators are not responsible for any information on The MR2 Owners Club Message Board that cause you harm, your vehicle harm, or anyone else any harm. You use all information gathered on The MR2 Owners Club Message Board at your own risk.

THE BIG RULES:

Violation of these rules is grounds for IMMEDIATE banning of your account. If you think we're kidding, think again.

Do not post anything that could interfere with the viewing of the forum by other members - including any Java or Java script, MARQUEE or other page altering tags.

No spamming the forums. Commercial messages may be removed at the discretion of either a forum moderator or administrators. Group buy topics may be posted in the Group Buy forum they most apply to. Classifieds belong in the parts for sale forum. A link to a commercial website in your post or sig is okay. Posting a thread that advertises or promotes a company, while pretending to be not affiliated with the company is grounds for banning. Please review the Advertising Rules

No flaming of other members to incite or perpetuate a conflict or argument. ANY personal attacks or name calling will get you suspended, if not banned.

No bombing forums or threads with pointless posts. Pointless posts or one liner replies to push up one's post count is frowned upon. Repeated posting to disrupt the forum is not allowed. Moderators will delete excessive posts as they see fit.

No linking or posting of pornographic or objectionable material. Objectionable material includes graphic gore (i.e. Car Crashes with cut up and dead bodies, or mangled living people) or porn. We know it when we see it. Do not link to websites that are known to have porn, or gore or snuff pictures or videos, real or not. This is grounds for banning. If you argue about the post being deleted you will be banned or suspended.

Do not impersonate other individuals or falsely represent yourself.

Do not discuss, suggest, engage, or encourage any illegal activity on the forums. Linking to locations that deal with any such activity is also forbidden. Do not place the forum owner in the position of being perceived as condoning any illegal activity. Posting Information on how to defraud any company or promotion of any kind of illegal or unethical activity is forbidden.

Posting under secondary usernames or alias user names other than your main account for the purpose of arguing, degrading or belittling other readers is grounds for having your posting privileges revoked. Having more than one account is grounds for immediate banning.

You must have a valid e-mail account in your profile so you can be reached by a forum moderator or administrator.

THE LITTLE RULES:

These are here to help you (and others) have an enjoyable experience here. Violation of these rules is grounds for a warning and/or a suspension.

No signatures with more than 5 lines of text total at a resolution of 1024x768 and/or an image of 500 pixels wide x 100 pixels tall and 40kb in image size. Any violators will have the image removed and/or replaced with our special board sig images.

No profanity in subject lines or signatures. We need to project a more professional image and offensive thread titles make the place look like a trailer park.

No Avatars of sexual acts (we do know what these are), bestiality, or graphic violence. Have respect for your fellow posters. NOTE: As of July 2003 we do not allow the use of avatars on the MR2 Owners Club Message Board.

Respect both forum moderators and administrators. It is a thankless job that we do, and cleaning up other people's messes is never fun. Questions about the forums, or moderator decisions should be handled by private e-mail or in the Message Board Announcements & Questions Forum.

No SHOUTING. Don't use all caps when posting. It is difficult to read and annoying.

Try to post to the forum that is most appropriate for the topic being presented. Threads will be moved at the moderators discretion.

No cross-posting. (See spamming above). There is no reason to post the same thing in many forums. Cross posts will be deleted at the moderator's discretion.

Refrain from gross use of profanity or cr3ative spell1ng to get around the censor filters.

Respect the privacy of other members and individuals. Do not post personal information about them (i.e. addresses, phone numbers, passwords, pictures, etc.) These things may only be posted with permission of the person who owns the pictures, numbers, etc. Moderators may delete or edit text until it is determined that proper permission has been given.

Observe all copyright laws when posting copyrighted material. Do not post links or instructions, designed to get around copyright laws.

Do not post messages that violate Federal, State, or Local laws which include, but are not limited to, anything that violates a copyright, trademark, patent, trade secret, or is bound by NDA (Non-Disclosure Agreement).

Threads with the expressed purpose of bashing, flaming and/or defaming of law enforcement officials (police) will be closed down, and/or moved to the deleted thread storage.

Posting non-MR2 related parts or cars for sale is not allowed on the board. Please use ebay, yahoo, or some other site to sell your stuff.

Thread bumps – annoying, these can be deleted from a thread at the moderators discretion as long as they do not contain any real information in them other than a method to bump the thread.

Vs. Threads - My car vs. your car threads are not allowed. They are 9 out of 10 times just a waste of bandwidth amd end up creating flame wars. So we just don't allow them. Now threads like CT26 vs GT30 threads are okay, but RX7 vs MR2 are not.

General info:

Moderators and administrators frequently review forum messages for those that are in violation of Forum rules. Any messages found to be in violation may be deleted without warning or explanation. The Forum also reserves the right to ban any user, at any time, and for any reason.

There are going to be topics and discussions that will have heated debates. Please think before you post and re-read what you type before you post it. Keep your comments limited to the debate at hand and not make this a personal issue between you and another reader. There is tremendous diversity in age, race, gender, language, location (worldwide) and more here and there will be a lot of varying opinions on different subjects. We're all human beings and we we're all drawn to this site because we have a common bond as MR2 enthusiasts.

It is extremely important when using electronic text based communication, to not read too much into a post. If you go looking to find a flame, you will find one that was never intended. On the other side, people may read what you typed in the wrong way. A liberal use of IMO or emoticons go a long way to keeping things from getting too heated.

If you feel you have been personally attacked on the forums, please do not respond in kind, but ask a moderator to step in. Contact a moderator or admin via email or use the Message Board Announcements and Questions forum.

The moderators and admins rely upon the users to notify us when a thread is getting out of hand. Please notify us, we can't check each and every thread. Many times, a small word or email will stop a situation from getting out of hand. Off-Topic Forum will only retain threads for a maximum of 30 days before they are deleted.

The Off-Topic Forum is to be used for off-topic discussion. This does not include discussions of sex, drugs, and or alcohol (Rock & Roll is okay). If those subjects want to be discussed, then we suggest visiting www.off-topic.net and setting up an account there. The Administrators and Moderators may delete any thread without notification, at any time.

Street Racing threads will not be allowed. Posting of and /or about Street Racing is grounds for a one week suspension on the first offense. Please use www.streetracing.org if you want to discuss street racing. Street racing is an illegal practice and will not be tollerated on this message board. As a note you should know that Law Enforcement Officials regularly visit message boards looking for illegal racing and other illegal activities. Be aware of this before you make your post. Also be aware that the owner of this forum will provide any and all information to Law Enforcement if they request it. Continued posts of this sort are grounds for being banned from our board permanently.

BOTTOM LINE:

If you perform any of the modifications on your car that I have listed on the MR2 Owners Club website, you do them at your own risk. You need to check your local laws, and you need to be sure to follow all safety procedures while doing the modifications. For a list of the safety procedures you need to get the Big Green Book from Toyota or get the Haynes Toyota MR2 Manual. It is suggested that before modifying your car, that it is properly tuned up and all worn parts replaced. Why make a car accelerate 0-60 in 5 seconds when you have worn brakes and can't stop? Just remember, that if you hurt yourself or your car, that it is your fault, not the owners of the MR2 Owners Club. Just take your time, follow proper safety procedures, and just have fun...
